Ludhiana man booked for raping colleague on pretext of marriage

The Jamalpur police have booked a 26-year-old man for allegedly raping his colleague on the pretext of marriage for one and a half years.

The 24-year-old woman, in her complaint, told the police that she was working in a company at Jandiyali village. There she met the accused Vikas Kumar, 26, of Jandiyali. He befriended her and established physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage for over a year and a half. Later, when the woman asked him to marry her, he refused, following which the victim lodged a case against the accused.
ASI Veena Rani, who is investigating the case, said the police have registered a case under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused. The police have launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused.
