Three months after being allegedly abducted and gangraped, a married woman from Bajda village in Ludhiana district has returned home in a state of shock.
As per the 22-year-old victim, she was abducted and gangraped by four persons in January. The accused then took her to Jalandhar, where they sold her off to a man who raped her for more than two months. On getting pregnant, she was set free, she claimed.
The Meharban police station have registered a case of abduction and gangrape under sections 366 and 376-D of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Rahul, Bittu, Ruby and three unidentified persons.
The woman said Rahul and Bittu, along with their two accomplices, abducted her on January 19 and took her to a factory, where they raped her. Later, she was sold off to Ruby in Jalandhar. When she got pregnant, the accused gave her Rs 1,000 and made her board a bus for Kiratpur Sahib in Rupnagar district, where she took shelter in a shrine.
Sub-inspector Surjit Singh Nagra, station house officer (SHO), Meharban police station, said the Kiratpur Sahib police recovered the woman from the shrine on April 27 after the management committee informed the police.
"We brought her back to Ludhiana on Monday and registered a case against the accused," the SHO said.
He said the police would get her medical examination conducted at the civil hospital to confirm rape and pregnancy.
The woman was married about three years ago, but due to strained relations with her husband, she had been living in her parental house at Bajda village.
