The Amritsar city police have booked two unidentified persons in connection with robbing a Ludhiana woman of her purse containing an iphone, an ipad and cash when she was on way to the Golden Temple in an autorickshaw.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the C-Division police station on the complaint of the victim, Inderjit Kaur, a resident of Dugri Road, Ludhiana.
The complainant alleged that the motorcycle-borne accused snatched her purse when she was travelling in an autorickshaw and fled towards the water tank at Gilwali Gate.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Kulwant Rai at the C-Division police station said efforts were on to identify and arrest the accused.
Woman held for Snatching purse
In another case, police have arrested one Sonia, a resident of Chamrang Road, for allegedly snatching the purse of a woman, identified as Amarjit Kaur, of Baba Bakala.
The purse — containing some cash and documents — was later recovered by police from the accused.
The accused has been booked under sections 379 (punishment for theft) and 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC at the E-Division police station on the complaint of the victim, Amarjit Kaur.
The victim alleged that she had gone to the Golden Temple to pay obeisance, where the accused managed to steal her purse.
ASI Kuldeep Singh at the Galliara police post said the accused had been arrested and further investigation was on.
