Male nurse held for rape bid on tourist in Amritsar
The victim had come to city on a foreign tour along with her parents. She complained of some ailment after which she was admitted at the hospital, where the accused tried to rape her.
The police on Sunday arrested a male nurse, working at private hospital, for allegedly attempting to rape a 20-year-old Holland national, who was undergoing a treatment at the hospital.
The accused has been identified has Ashish Roy, who works as a night attendant at the hospital.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) Lakhbir Singh said, “The victim had come to city on a foreign tour along with her parents. They came to city on Saturday and stayed at a hotel here. At night, the girl complained of some ailment after which she was hospitalised.”
“On morning, she called her mother in the room and told her that the male nurse attempted to rape and molested her. Her father immediately informed the police, who reached the hospital and arrested the nurse,” said ADCP-2.
“On victim’s statement, a case has been registered against the nurse under Sections 376 (attempt to rape), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 511 (attempting to commit offences) of the Indian Penal Code at Civil Lines police station”.
Meanwhile, the medical examination of the victim was also ordered.
