Malta boat tragedy victims remembered

The 283 people, including many from Punjab, who had drowned in the Mediterranean sea in Malta on the Christmas eve of 1996 were remembered at a ceremony at Lala Lajpat Rai School here on Friday. Tributes were paid to the deceased by lighting candles. Malta Boat Tragedy Probe Mission chairman Balwant Singh Khera said efforts were on to build a memorial to the victims in Italy.
