Man who killed friend over chicken dish in Jalandhar arrested

The Goraya police on Sunday arrested Bilga resident Satnam Singh, who killed his friend Balwinder Singh in Pasla village on Saturday after an argument over the ‘taste’ of a chicken dish prepared by him.

The Goraya police on Sunday arrested Bilga resident Satnam Singh, who killed his friend Balwinder Singh in Pasla village on Saturday after an argument over the ‘taste’ of a chicken dish prepared by him.

Balwinder did not like the way Satnam had prepared the dish and he threw the plate. In a fit of rage, Satnam attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon and fled from the spot.

The victim, the accused and another friend of theirs, Jasbir Singh, had been working in a farmhouse of veterinary Dr. Dilbag Singh for the past few years. On Friday night, the trio planned to eat together and have some liquor at the farm house.

Satnam prepared the chicken dish and the others brought liquor.

Balwinder lost his temper and threw his plate claiming that the chicken was not tasty. Satnam and Balwinder got into an argument over this. Jasbir tried to intervene, but to no avail following which he left.

The incident came to light on Saturday at around 10 am, when Jasbir arrived at the farmhouse and found the body.

Superintendent of police (D) Parminder Singh Bhandal, Phillaur deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Harvinder Singh Bhalla and Goraya SHO Jarnail Singh told mediapersons that the accused would be produced in the local court on Monday.
