MC notice to hospital charging fee for parking on roadside

On visiting the hospital on March 7, HT had found that a parking staff member was charging fee from people parking vehicles on the roadside under a shed, which according to the MC was installed without its permission. HT had also obtained a parking slip issued by the hospital, which listed rates for parking as R 10 for two-wheelers and R 5 for cycles.

However, the hospital had claimed that they did not charge any amount from visitors for parking their vehicles outside the hospital. Following the HT report, a city-based RTI activist had also forwarded a complaint to the local bodies department.

Rajinder Sharma, assistant town planner, said they had issued a notice to the hospital to remove the encroachment within three days, otherwise action would be taken by the civic body.
