Minor siblings drowned in village pond

A girl (6) and her brother (4) drowned in a pond behind their house at Chhek Bhatti village in the district on Tuesday. The victims, Priya and Jashandeep, children of daily-wagers, were playing near the pond while their parents were away at work. The villagers, who were nearby, rushed to their rescue and took out the boy but were not able to retrieve the girl." The boy was taken to a nearby hospital where he died later, the SHO said. The police have started a probe under Section 174 of the CrPC.
