Taking cognisance of the treatment meted out by the kangaroo court, ACP (central) Ramneesh Choudhary said, senior officials had directed ADCP city-1 Nilambari V Jagdale to inquire into the matter.

Interestingly, after questioning the suspect, police managed to apprehend his accomplices as well. When the youth was caught red handed while stealing, he was carrying a screwdriver and iron rod. Despite informing police, area residents beat him up and dragged him to a barber's shop and got his head shaved.

The youth told police that he was a resident of Islam Ganj area, after which police called his family to verify his antecedents.
