Mohali youth found dead in hotel's room

Vishal Kumar (30), a resident of Lohgarh village in Mohali, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a room of President Hotel in the city on Saturday afternoon.

Vishal Kumar (30), a resident of Lohgarh village in Mohali, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a room of President Hotel in the city on Saturday afternoon.

The hotel staff informed the police immediately after they opened the room and found the victim's body lying on the floor.

Senior police officials, including additional deputy commissioner of police-I Naresh Kumar Dogra, assistant commissioner of police Dev Dutt Sharma, rushed to the spot with a forensic expert team and took Vishal's body to the Jalandhar civil hospital for post-mortem examination.

The police found Celphos tablets under his bed and two mobile phones from the room. The police also informed the family members of the deceased.

The victim was working as an accountant with a car dealer agency in Ferozepur and he had booked the room number 307 of the hotel on Friday evening.

The hotel staff said the victim had breakfast on Saturday morning, but there was no response when they knocked at his door at 1 pm. Finding it suspicious, the staff opened room using a master key.

Dogra said preliminary investigations indicated towards suicide, adding that only post-mortem examination report would clarify the exact reason behind the victim's death.

He said the police had registered a case under sections 174 of the CrPc in the case.
