Punjab technical education minister Anil Joshi said on Monday that new institutes offering technical education would come up in the state and technical courses introduced in keeping with market demands.
"The government intends to start short courses for housewives too to equip them with technical knowledge so that they can seek jobs in industrial units," he said at a religious gathering in Guru Gobind Singh Nagar.
On the industrial sector in the state, Joshi said he was making efforts to bring new industries and generate employment. "Development projects are proceeding at a fast pace in my constituency Amritsar (North)," he said. "Several new projects will be initiated soon."
Joshi said a road connecting Majitha Road and Ranjit Avenue would be built. "This would shorten the distance for commuters," he added. "Company Gardens is likely to emerge as one of the most beautiful public parks in the city after renovation," the minister said. "This would take around six months."
