Vishal Mandal, the victim
Reports said three youths were riding the motorbike when the incident took place. Police on Saturday arrested Pappu of Sector 44 who was driving the two-wheeler. The deceased has been identified as Vishal Mandal. The police said Vishal along with his father Roshan Mandal, who was driving the auto-rickshaw, went to buy milk from a shop at Khuda Ali Sher around 11:30pm.
Roshan parked the auto-rickshaw outside a shop and went to buy milk while Vishal kept sitting inside the vehicle. The three youths on a Yamaha bike rammed into the parked auto-rickshaw. The impact of the collision was such that Vishal was hurled at a distance. He suffered serious head injuries.
The bike also fell on the road but the three fled from the spot, leaving their bike behind. The police were informed and the victim was rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16 where he died after a few hours.
His body was handed over to his family after post-mortem.
A case was registered at the Sector 11 police station on the complaint of the boy’s father.
