As many as 2,901 students have applied for joint entrance test (JET) from Ludhiana.

The education department has requested the PSBTE and IT to set up centres at both places, as more number of students from these areas appeared for the exam every year.

Talking to HT, Santokh Singh, district guidance counsellor, Ludhiana, said, “I have informed PSBTE and IT earlier also that more students apply from Dehlon and Sidhwan Bet, so there is a need to set up examination centres in these blocks.

But the official concerned informed that the prospectus has already been published and sold. They will set up centres at these places next year, but this time it is not possible.”

“We have also requested to for a centre at Government Model Senior Secondary School, PAU as more than 100 students are appearing from this school.”

Last year the students from Sidhwan Bet had to take exam at Government School for Boys and Government School for Girls in Jagraon, which is 20km from Sidhwan Bet.

A student from Dehlon, Radhika Jindal, said, “I have applied for JET, but till now I am not aware about my examination centre. If the examination centre will not be in Dehlon, it will become difficult to appear in the exam. Last year, the authorities have set up the centre at government school, Malaud, which is 10 km from here.”
