ASI dies after falling from the third floor in Jalandhar

A 45-year-old assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Amarjeet Lal died after falling from the third floor of the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) complex on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

A 45-year-old assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Amarjeet Lal died after falling from the third floor of the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) complex on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

Lal was taken to Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Jalandhar and later shifted to SGL Charitable Hospital by other jawans but he could not survive.

Lal was the head of Special Striking Group in PAP. He is survived by two sons and wife Kamlesh. One of his sons Jaspreet is in New Zealand while the other, Manpreet, is preparing for IELTS in Patiala.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jagat Singh rushed to the civil hospital on getting information about the incident. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem.

The DSP said that Lal was an efficient officer. As per the jawans, the deceased had taken dinner with them on Thursday and they were sleeping at the time of the incident. Rama Mandi police have also been informed about the incident.
