The area residents said even fire tenders could not extinguish the blaze.

Meanwhile, fire brigade officials said tenders were sent to the spot on Monday and they had extinguished the fire. However, as the tree caught fire again on Tuesday, tenders were pressed into service and they put out the blaze again.

Ashish Singh, a shopkeeper in the area, said the tree was still burning and there was a spiritual power behind the phenomenon. “It seems God is sending us a message through this burning tree,” he added.
