Police recruitment: Fail to clear dope test? Get another chance

Police aspirants who fail to clear the dope test can claim a second chance at the end of the physical test. The department has also introduced a biometric system for transparency in the process for the first time.

The recruitment procedure kicked off on Punjab Agricultural University grounds on Wednesday. The Ludhiana police will screen 23,000 aspirants.

On first day, 400 aspirants were called out of which 349 appeared. Four aspirants failed the dope test.

Deputy commissioner of police Dhruman Nimbale said a team of two doctors and eight lab technicians is conducting the dope test by taking urine samples.

“The kit can detect five types of narcotics including heroin, opium, poppy husk and performance enhancing drugs,” said Nimbale. He further added, “If someone fails the test the first time, he can get another test from the government hospital and claim a second chance.”
