“The French president sounded very positive and reassured to ask his home and education ministers to talk to the Sikh community to sort out matters in the best possible way,” said Preneet Kaur in a press release.

She was minister-in-waiting to the French President during his visit to Delhi. The contentious issue came up for discussion on Thursday during high-level talks and the prime minister had categorically sought French president's intervention in the matter.

The visiting president had assured the Indian delegation that his administration would ensure that religious sentiments of the Sikh community were not hurt in any manner, the press release said.
