Ravinder Brahmpura files nomination papers for Khadoor Sahib bypolls
In the presence of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Ravinder Singh Brahmpura on Monday filed his nomination papers for Khadoor Sahib bypoll slated for February 13.
Several senior leaders of SAD including MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Ravinder’s father MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia also accompanied Ravinder while he submitted the papers to Khadoor Sahib SDM Ravinder Singh.
It is notable that the seat had fallen vacant after Congress leader Ramanjit Singh Sikki resigned from the post of MLA to protest against sacrilege incidents held in village Baath falling in the constituency.
Rest of candidates including Sikki, Bhai Baldeep Singh and Dr Sumail Singh Sidhu are likely to file their nomination papers on January 27, last day for nominations.

LeT behind blasts in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, 2 operatives arrested
Ahead of the annual Amarnath pilgrimage, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved recent blasts in Kotranka and Budhal areas of the Rajouri district with the arrest of two Lashkar operatives. The police have launched searches for Talib Shah. “A huge cache of explosive material, including five improvised explosive devices (IEDs), was recovered at the disclosure of the LeT operatives”, additional director general of police (ADGP), Mukesh Singh said.
