The Rohtak administration on Tuesday brokered peace between Dalits and upper castes of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar's native village Baniyani, around a week after a clash erupted between them following molestation of a minor girl of the Thakur community by her Dalit classmate.

The district administration held several meetings with the members of both communities and the dispute was finally resolved after a meeting on Tuesday.
Deputy commissioner DK Behera has assured jobs to two Dalits youths who had received serious injuries in the clash on September 9 and were admitted to the PGIMS Rohtak. About 50 people from both the communities and several officers of district administration, including DC Behera and SP Shashank Anand, were present in Tuesday's meeting that lasted three hours.

Talking to Hindustan Times, DC Behera said, "The issue has been sorted out by the villagers and they have also agreed to withdraw the FIRs against each other".

About the assurance of jobs to two dalit youths, the DC said, "I have given them assurance of jobs and I will fulfil my commitment at my level".
