SAD leader, brother among four awarded year's jail in assault case

Garja Singh (38), Lakhwinder Singh (50), Gurvinder Singh (35) and Kulwinder Singh (38), all residents of Dera Meer Meeran village in the district, were sentenced to 12-month jail and a fine of Rs 900 each and in default of payment of fine they will have undergo for one more month. Kulwinder Singh is a Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Garja Singh is his brother.

The accused had been booked by the Fatehgarh Sahib police on February 24, 2010, for inflicting grievous injuries on Dalwinder Singh and Narinder Singh, also residents of Dera Meer Meeran.
