Sardar Singh, captain of the Indian hockey team, has been given a clean chit by the police in connection with the allegations of sexual exploitation levelled against him by a UK-based woman in February.
Confirming the development, commissioner of police Jatinder Singh Aulakh, said the special investigation team (SIT) in its report said that no evidence to corroborate the allegations against Sardar Singh could be found. The report said the woman failed to produce evidence to establish her stay with Sardar at Bhaini Sahib.

The woman had also claimed that she stayed with Sardar at Panchkula and the police have advised her to file a complaint with the Haryana police.
The complainant, who is also a hockey player and has represented under-19 team of the UK, had in February accused Sardar Singh of sexual exploitation through a complaint lodged with the then commissioner of police, Paramraj Singh Umranangal, who formed a SIT to look into the matter. The SIT summoned Sardar Singh and the complainant several times during the course of the probe.
