The woman approached Ludhiana police commissioner Paramraj Singh Umranangal accusing Singh of also forcing her to abort a pregnancy and then cutting ties with her.

An inquiry has been marked at the Koom Kalan police station in Bhaini Sahib but no FIR has been registered yet. Sub-inspector Surjit Singh Nagra, station house officer of Koom Kalan, said the police would register a case “after verifying the facts”.

Singh, who is also a deputy superintendent of police in his native state Haryana, was unavailable for a comment.

Hailing from Leeds, the woman claimed the pair met during the London Olympics in 2012 and began dating soon after. She further claimed to have visited Singh’s native village Sant Nagar in Sirsa aside from accompanying him during the team’s European tour last year.
