In a statement issued here on Friday, Makkar called upon Union human resource development minister Smriti Irani to take necessary action against the publisher and authors of the book, ‘India’s Struggle of Independence’.
The SGPC chief also asked the university authorities to either withdraw the book from the curriculum or get the controversial portions deleted from it.
“An inquiry should also be ordered to find out the reasons as to why the martyr was labelled as a terrorist,” he said.
