Daduwal said on Tuesday that his devotees, in large numbers, are requesting him to contest the byelection as an independent candidate and he will have to take a decision in this regard.

He said that religious leaders from many panthic organisations have expressed their support to him for the election.

Hesaid that they have ensured to work for him if he contests election as an independent candidate against the SAD-BJP and Congress candidates.

“In the Sikh religion, politics and religion go together but politics these days is hated by everyone due to widespread corruption, nepotism and dynastic element. Therefore, we need to clean the system for which my devotees are asking me to take the plunge and contest here,” he said.

Daduwal said that his devotees and panthic organisations have put forth the logic that the religious place of Talwandi Sabo, where Takh Shri Damdama Sahib is located, should be represented by a religious person in the state assembly so they have come in my support.
