SIMC seals one scanning centre, issues notices to two others
A team of State Inspection and Monitoring Committee (SIMC) led by Jalandhar civil surgeon Dr RL Bassan checked the records of three ultrasound scanning centres of the district on Thursday and sealed one of them for gross discrepancies. The team also issued a show-cause notice to the others for shortcomings in keeping records.

The raids were conducted at Sharma Hospital situated on Mall Road, Kapurthala, Sharma Scanning Centre situated in Sultanpur Lodhi and Azad Hospital near Rest House in Sultanpur Lodhi.
"We have sealed the machine of Azad Hospital for serious discrepancies. The hospital had deputed unqualified staff for scanning purposes and there were more shortcomings. We have also recommended to the appropriate authority that legal proceedings be inititated against the owners. Show-cause notices have also been issued to two other scanning centres for shortcoming in keeping records," Dr Bassan said.
