Slapped by father at college, 15-yr-old girl ends life

Father slapped his daughter after he discovered that she had not been attending her classes for a couple of days.

A 15-year-old girl committed suicide after she was scolded and slapped by her father at a Samana College when he discovered last week that she had not been attending her classes for a couple of days.

The incident came to light on Monday when police arrested Karamjit Singh (40) of Dhanetha village for abetment to suicide and destruction of evidence. A case was registered on the complaint of the college managing committee. The family cremated the body in a hush after the girl hanged herself from a ceiling fan, Sadar station house officer (SHO) Narain Singh said.

“Karamjit went to Public College, Samana, on August 14 to enquire about her studies to find that his daughter had not attended her classes for some days despite having come from home. An infuriated Karamjit also got her name struck off from the college,” the SHO said.
