Sunil Toni is UT Bar body chief

Sunil Toni was elected the president of the District Bar Association, Chandigarh, with a huge margin of 882 votes against his nearest rival Mukesh Mittal. Mittal, who is under the scanner of the enforcement directorate in an alleged money laundering case, managed to secure 705 votes.

Sunil Toni was elected the president of the District Bar Association, Chandigarh, with a huge margin of 882 votes against his nearest rival Mukesh Mittal. Mittal, who is under the scanner of the enforcement directorate in an alleged money laundering case, managed to secure 705 votes. The third candidate in the race for the top post, Jagdish Marwaha, was polled only 77 votes.

Vinod Kumar Verma bagged 1,028 votes to bag the vice-president’s post. Ajay Sepia with 1,001 votes became the secretary; Chetna Noor (625 votes) joint-secretary; and Bhupinder Rana (852 votes) treasurer.

Out of the total 2,054 registered voters, 1,667 had polled the votes.

After the victory , Sunil Toni said, “I’ll take care of the problems being faced by the lawyer community and will work for their welfare by providing them chambers. My second agenda is to have a multi-level parking for the advocates of the district courts.“
