Addressing the protesters, manch leader Surinder Anand said that the decision taken by the Central government was not in the interest of the small traders and it would adversely affect their livelihood.

"The arrival of the multinational companies in retail sector will hijack the country's retail trade, which would lead to closure of majority of small businessmen, besides rendering lakhs others jobless," Anand said. The protesters also raised slogans against the UPA government.
