The two cops arrested by the Tarn Taran police for brutally beating a woman in public were remanded in police custody till March 18 on Tuesday.

But the victim, Harbrinder Kaur, and her family said they wanted the cops, head constable Davinder Kumar and constable Saraj Singh, to be dismissed from service. “We also demand the arrest and dismissal of the other policemen involved in the assault,” said Harbrinder Kaur's brother Gurjinder Singh.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the arrests have not gone down well with the families of many cops. Sources said they had gathered to express their resentment against the police action, but SSP KS Dhillon reached the spot and pacified them.
