It was not really a ‘Happy’ Birthday for a 20-year-old girl from Tarn Taran who was allegedly gangarped by her coaching friends and their accomplice on Friday.

It was not really a ‘Happy’ Birthday for a 20-year-old girl from Tarn Taran who was allegedly gangarped by her coaching friends and their accomplice on Friday.

The accused also filmed the incident on their mobiles, she alleged.

In her complaint to police, the victim stated that she had gone to her IELTS coaching centre near Bus Stand are in Amritsar on Friday.


After the classes, two of her friends — Kuljit Singh and Palwinder Singh, also residents of Tarn Tarn, who are taking coaching at the same centre — took her to a restaurant palace on the Tarn Taran bypass on the pretext of celebrating her birthday, she stated.

They took her into a room at the restaurant, where one of their friends Jaggit Singh joined them, stated the victim, alleging that the trio gangraped her in the room and videoed the incident on their mobiles.

Confirming the incident to Hindustan Times, Tarn Taran senior superintendent of police Manmohan Sharma said the trio was booked under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act.

The SSP claimed one of the accused Kuljit Singh was arrested, while other two would be arrested soon.

    Authorities in Hisar on Friday arrested 14 youngsters for allegedly impersonating as candidates in physical examinations conducted in Fatehabad by the Indian Army for recruitment under the defence ministry's new Agnipath scheme. Nearly 23,000 army aspirants from four districts of Haryana, Jind, Hisar, Sirsa and Fatehabad registered under the Agnipath scheme for open recruitment, which started at the Hisar cantonment on August 12. The drive is on till August 29 for physical and medical examinations.

    Fourteen youngsters were arrested for impersonating as candidates in physical tests conducted by the Indian Army under the Agnipath scheme at the Hisar cantonment on Friday.     The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday said that the Central Bureau of Investigation raids at deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia's residence and other places are proof of corruption in the Aam Aadmi Party government's excise policy that was introduced with the intention to benefit the liquor mafia.
