Three snatchers held; mobile phones, motorcycles recovered

Daresi police claimed to have busted a gang of snatchers with the arrest of three members.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP, central) Satish Malhotra said the Daresi police arrested the accused from Sundar Nagar area following a tip-off on Thursday late.

The accused have been identified as Sahil Ghai, Vishal Kumar alias Chuha, and Sunny alias Mard, all residents of Valmiki Mohalla. The accused are in their mid 20s.

The police have recovered two motorcycles and ten expensive mobile phones from their possession. According to the police, one of the motorcycles recovered was stolen from the area on March 6. A case was also registered in this context.

Besides, one a mobile recovered was also snatched from Sunil Kumar of Santokh Nagar of Shivpuri on March 10. A case under section 379-B was registered against the accused.

Sub-inspector Sanjiv Kapoor, station house officer, Daresi police station, said the accused were already facing trial in several criminal cases. The accused were bailed out from jail around six months ago.

The SHO said more important information was expected from the accused in interrogation.

One held for drug peddling, woman accomplice at large

Daresi police arrested a man for drug peddling on Friday, and recovered 200gm narcotic powder from his possession. The arrested accused has been identified as Kulwant Singh alias Nikka, 40, of Qila Mohalla.

Sub-inspector Sanjiv Kapoor said the police arrested Kulwant on Friday. While one of his accomplices was arrested on Thursday, the other aide Monika of Qila Mohalla managed to flee.

The SHO said Nikka told the police that he used to get the contraband from Monika, and used to sell it among the drug addicts. Monika indulged in drug peddling after the arrest of her husband Amrik Singh alias Pipli in a murder case. The police have launched a manhunt for her arrest.
