Police have recovered three cars from their possession, including one stolen from Mumbai.

The accused Ravinder Singh of Chehrata of Amritsar and Jagjit Singh of Sodhewal of Ferozepur were held when they were trying to sell the vehicles in Ludhiana. Ravinder is a clerk at the DTO, Ferozepur.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Gurprit Singh Toor, SSP, Ludhiana (rural), said that a naka was put up at Mullanpur Chowk following a tip-off on May 14. The accused were intercepted by Prem Singh, SHO of Mullanpur Dakha police station, when they were on way to Ludhiana in a car.

The accused had reportedly admitted that they lifted vehicles from other states and sold them in Punjab by preparing fake documents.

"The police have been investigating the matter. Involvement of some other accused is expected to come up in the case," the SSP said.
