Two brothers among four killed in road accidents in Patiala, Sangrur

In a shocking incident, three youths, including two brothers, were killed in a road accident on Wednesday night at Nirwana, situated on the Punjab-Haryana border, while a woman was killed and 14 others were injured in Sangrur after a tyre of the maxi cab burst on Thursday.
The accident in Patiala took place due to dense fog as the driver of an unidentified vehicle might have failed to notice the motorcycle of the deceased coming from the opposite side.
The deceased have been identified as Gurwinder Singh, 35, alias Gindi, his brother Babbi, 38, and Raj Kumar, all residents of Shutrana.
The victims remained lying unattended on the road for whole of the night and were noticed in the morning when the fog cleared to some extent.
The police said the deceased persons were identified only from their clothes and the motorcycle lying in a nearby field as their body parts were completely crushed in the accident.
The police said the two brothers were workers at a Dhaba in Nirwana and were on their way home after completing their shift at around 3am. The third Raj Kumar, who was from Haryana, had taken a lift to his village from the workplace on their bike.
The police have registered a case against the driver of the unidentified vehicle and started investigations.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended in Shutrana after the deaths.

The deceased has been identified as Sukhwinder Kaur, 36, wife of Tony Singh, a resident of Majhi village. Four others were injured seriously and referred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala whereas others have been admitted to the government hospital, Bhawanigarh.
The incident took place at around 1pm, when a tyre of the maxi cab (PB 13 P 1548) burst and the driver lost control following which the vehicle overturned in the middle of the road.
Sukhwinder Kaur died on the spot. All the passengers were residents of Majhi village as they were going to attend a funeral procession.
