Accused Vishal, her husband, is on the run and a police hunt for him is on. A girl (7) who lived with the family also received burns to the hand. "Vishal and Sonia married nine months ago and they are from Guru Arjan Dev Nagar locality here," said assistant commissioner of police (south), Balkrishan Singla, adding: "In the morning, they had a small tussle over money and an agitated Vishal threw acid on his wife."

"We have registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and 326-A (causing injuries voluntarily by dangerous means) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Vishal ran away immediately after throwing the acid," said inspector Arun Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Sultanwind. Sonia is a housewife, while Vishal is a daily wager.
