Following the death of a pregnant woman at Bhagwan Ram Charitable Hospital, Daresi, her kin vandalised the furniture and windowpanes on the hospital premises on Friday.
Twenty-eight-year-old Pratibha was admitted to the hospital on Thursday evening as she was unwell. She died during treatment at the hospital.
The deceased’s brother-in-law, Raj Kumar, said, “She was admitted to the hospital for delivery but no doctor came to attend her. Though her condition was getting deteriorated, the hospital staff did not pay any attention despite our requests.”
The kin said Pratibha was later taken to the operation theater where she died. They alleged that no doctor was available to conduct her delivery and she continued to scream in pain. Later, the staff advised to refer the patient but did not allow them to meet Pratibha, they alleged.
The family members claimed that they broke the door and glasses to enter the operation theater where she was lying dead.
Kumar alleged that she died due to negligence of the hospital staff as she was not given treatment in time. They also staged protest against the hospital staff at the Daresi police station.
The hospital authorities could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
Daresi station house officer (SHO) Satwant Singh said, “The kin of the deceased have accused the hospital staff of not taking care of the patient. The police have filed proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. We are looking into the case.”
