Junior Singh’s name was approved by Virbhadra, who is also the chairman of the HPKVN - a body setup to run skill development programmes in the state-, along with two other members from Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
During the first board meeting of the HPKVN on October 12, one of the ministers had raised the issue of nominating Vikramaditya, who is also the president of Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress (HPYC), as the director of the corporation. However, the board was not empowered to approve the induction, hence the matter was brought on file and a few days back the file was approved by the chief minister.
Headed by Virbhadra, the HPKVN will have minister for technical education, minister for rural development, minister for labour and employment and minister for education as its members.
The CM, in his budget speech, had announced to set a skill development corporation in Himachal Pradesh to run the skill related programme smoothly. In May, the state cabinet approved setting up of the HPKVN and after completion of formalities the company was finally incorporated in mid September.
