Preet Inder Kaur alleged that the matter of the plot was already subjudice when Shivalik and his accomplice Updesh Singh from Alamgir village tried to construct a room on it on Sunday.
Kaur filed a contempt case in the court of civil judge KK Singla on Monday. The next hearing in the contempt case is on July 23.

She claimed to have lodged a complaint with the local police, but said that they refused to take action against the MLA.

According to Kaur, she had bought the 780-square metre plot in 2009. "Updesh Singh has the possession of the adjoining plot and wants to grab mine too," she said. "When I learnt of his intention, I filed a civil case in court and it ordered status quo on this matter."

"On Sunday, Shivalik, Updesh Singh and others arrived and tried to construct a room on my plot," Kaur said. "I immediately informed the police, but they seem to be under his influence and were unwilling to take action."

Shivalik on the other hand, said Kaur and her husband were trying to grab the plot, which actually belonged to Updesh Singh. "The plot promoter duped the couple by showing Updesh's property," he said. "Several enquiries have been conducted and all of them have been in favour of Updesh Singh." He refuted the woman's allegations.

"I have freed around 80 acres of government land and handed it over to the government," the MLA said. "How can I be enticed by a piece of land of a few square metres?"
