Woman killed as man opens fire at wedding
A woman was killed after a man opened fire from a revolver during a marriage ceremony in Kararwala village near here on Friday night. The incident occurred at about 9:30 pm when victim Jagtar Kaur, 48, a resident of Beehla village in Barnala district, had come to attend the marriage of her nephew in the village.

Investigation officer, ASI, Jangir Singh at Rampura Phul Sadar police station, said one Mewa Singh, 36, of the same village, ran into an altercation with the brother of the groom during the marriage and opened fire in a fit of rage. “The accused fired three shots, but one hit the woman in the forehead, resulting in her death,” said the IO.
On a complaint by Raghbir Singh, husband of the deceased woman, the police have booked the accused under section 302 (murder) of the IPC.
