Woman's body found in Kapurthala

A body of an unidentified migrant woman has been found under mysterious circumstances in the fields of village Talwandi Mehma, near here on Thursday. A village resident found a dead body of a woman in semi-naked condition lying in the borewell said the police.

According to police sources, Harpal Singh, a resident of village Talwandi Mehma, when reached near the tubewell at 11am, found a dead body of a woman in semi-naked condition lying in the borewell.

"He informed the police who reached the spot and pulled out the body. The woman appears to be nearly 30 years and it looked like someone has strangulated her to death on Wednesday night," said SHO Kapurthala Sadar Pawanjeet Singh.

"The police has been working on several theories. The possibility of rape before murder could not be ruled out. We have to wait for post-mortem report," he added.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on in the matter.
