A group of youngsters pelted stones at Punjab’s veteran BJP leader and former minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Saturday.
AMRITSAR: A group of youngsters pelted stones at Punjab’s veteran BJP leader and former minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Saturday.
A statement issued by the local office of the former minister claimed that Chawla was on her way to attend a function when the incident occurred. When she reached Lal Chowk, some youths, who were shouting anti-national slogans, pelted stones at her vehicle.
As per the statement, the former minister escaped unhurt as her Punjab Police security guards formed a human wall around her. Despite being hit by the stones, the cops suffered no serious injuries.
To escape from the mob, the driver of the vehicle sped towards the nearby Hanuman Madir with the youth in pursuit. The security personal stationed at the mandir came to the rescue of Chawla and seeing them the youths disappeared.
