Four Marathi films, including Oscar-bound Harishchandrachi Factory, are lined up for release in the first month of the New Year, and they will compete with some Bollywood biggies.

Four Marathi films, including Oscar-bound

Harishchandrachi Factory

, are lined up for release in the first month of the New Year, and they will compete with some Bollywood biggies.



Actor Atul Kulkarni's

Natrang

, which brings the tamasha folk genre on Marathi silver screen after several years, will hit the screens tomorrow. Director Ravi Jadhav promises to encapsulate the heart of Maharashtra's cultural melange - the tamasha - through his debut film.



Set up in the State's rustic hinterlands, the film bears the dust of its rural life, and treats you to some beautiful filmmaking there within.



Singer Avdhut Gupte's

Zhenda

, a political drama said to be based on the Shiv Sena-Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) tug-of-war, will hit the theatres in January second week.



Shikshanacha Aycha Gho

, a movie on the present status of education system in the state, and starring Bharat Jadhav is lined up for release on January 15.



Harishchandrachi Factory

, a light-hearted take on the efforts of Dadasaheb Phalke, father of Indian cinema to make his first movie, will release on January 22.



These movies will vie for audience attention along with Hindi films such as Priyanka Chopra starrer

featuring Amitabh Bachchan.
