Keerthy Suresh’s Mahanati earns $1 million in US, equals Rangasthalam and Bharat Ane Nenu record
Keerthy Suresh’s film Mahanati as earned $1 million at the US box office, is now in the same league as star vehicles Rangasthalam and Bharat Ane Nenu.
Keerthy Suresh’s Mahanati, a biopic on legendary southern female actor Savitri, has been received well by audiences and critics alike. According to the film’s overseas distributor Nirvana Cinemas, the Nag Ashwin directed film has taken a terrific start at the box office, breaching into the $1 million club in its opening weekend itself.

It’s a huge feat for a biopic which, as a genre, is yet to find acceptance among audiences in Telugu. Going by the opening at US box office, trade pundits believe the film could very well end up earning over $2 million in the US.
Big star vehicles like Rangasthalam and Bharat Ane Nenu also earned $1 million in the opening weekend. Mahanati, starring Keerthy Suresh in the lead role and belonging to a genre that is still new to the audiences has collected as much, which has led the trade to believe that Mahanati is set on the right track.
