If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, popular southern actor Nayanthara might make a comeback to Kannada industry after six years in the role of Draupadi in upcoming magnum opus, Kurukshetra. The project is tipped to go on the floors on July 23. The makers have so far confirmed that Darshan and V Ravichandran will be seen playing Duryodhana and Krishna respectively in this high budget epic extravaganza. The pre-production work has been underway for over the last two months and the makers are kicked about the project.

Despite being in the industry for over a decade, Nayanthara has starred in only one Kannada film, Super, way back in 2011. Apparently, it was her role as Sita in Telugu historic drama Sri Rama Rajyam that made her the strong contender for the role of Draupadi, but she is yet to sign on the dotted line. The makers are hopeful that she will accept the offer and if she comes on board, the film will be dubbed in other southern languages as well.

Directed by Naganna, Kurukshetra will be produced by popular producer Muni Ratna. On making the film, the producer told The New Indian Express, “The preparations are on. As of now we have only confirmed Darshan, who will be seen as Duryodhana. The rest of the cast will be finalised in a month’s time. I have placed no limit on the budget. It will be decided during its making and this will be made to suit Indian standards.” On the career front, Nayanthara is busy with multiple projects in Tamil and some of them are Aramm and Imaikaa Nodigal.
