Kunal Ganjawala is on a roll. After having sung a Punjabi song for a Bollywood film, The Lifestyle featuring Drew Barrymore, he also sang for American-Marathi film, Mala Aai Vhhaychy, based on surrogacy. The film was selected to be shown to President Obama.

“President Pratibha Patil has selected the film, which speaks about foreigners using Indian women as surrogate mothers,” says Ganjawala, who has sung a song revolving around the emotions of a surrogate mother who gives birth to a child who looks like a foreigner.

obama"After hearing the song, the director had tears in his eyes," adds Ganjawala. Ganjawala has also sung Sau Gram Zindagi in the Hrithik Roshan starrer, Guzaarish. "Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) and Hrithik (Roshan) absolutely loved the song. As part of the ongoing film promotions on television shows, I will be singing Sau Gram Zindagi live along with Sanjay." Ganjawala will also be heard in Rajshri’s next two films, Isi Life Mein and Love U Mr Kalakar. While he confirms singing for Yash Raj’s next, he is tight-lipped about the project.

Ganjawala, as part of the Singers Association of India that was recently formed, is also supporting the Global India Music Awards being held in association with Hindustan Times. “Forming the singers association was not a cakewalk,” he says. “There were people who tried to mislead others for a long time. However, all the singers are happy that we have finally succeeded in forming this association. In India, we churn out so much music that there’s been a need to have an organised set-up like this for a long time,” he adds.
