SS Rajamouli floored by Keerthy Suresh’s performance in Mahanati as Savitri, calls Dulquer fantastic

Mahanati, the biopic on late actor Savitri, was released on May 9 in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The movie directed by Nag Ashwin is a multi starrer where Keerthy Suresh will be seen as Savitri and Dulquer Salmaan will play Gemini Ganesan.
Director SS Rajamouli watched the film on Wednesday and shared his views on Twitter. In his opinion, Keerthy Suresh has given a great performance. He is also a fan of Dulquer Salmaan now.
He wrote, “@KeerthyOfficial’s potrayal of Savitri garu is one of the finest performances I’ve ever seen. It is not just imitating. She brought the legendry actress back to life. @dulQuer is absolutely fantastic. I am his fan now.”
He added, “Congratulations Nag Ashwin and Swapna. Your belief, persistence and determination are remarkable. #Mahanati.”
The film is about Savitri’s rise to stardom, how her career shaped up and hos she lost everything in the end. The film also stars Samantha Akkineni, Vijay Deverakonda, Shalini Pandey, Banu Priya and Prakash Raj. Naga Chaitanya will so a cameo in the film.
Speaking about casting Keerthy Suresh in the lead role, director Nag Ashwin had said, “I saw it in her eyes. There was a spark and something genuine about her,” and added, “We pointed out some of the obvious traits. Keerthy was also in touch with Savitri’s daughter. From when we began shooting for the film to when we were on the final schedule, there was a transformation. She evolved with the character and we could see it.”
