The first thing that strikes you on watching actor Vijay forthcoming Tamil film Kaththi’s teaser is its background score. It’s powerful and gripping, synthetic yet elemental. A perfect recipe for a crime thriller.

Helmed by A R Murugadoss, the teaser sets the tone of the film: it opens in what looks like a dilapidated godown with Vijay’s shadow trailing a gang of men. No prizes for getting this one right: Vijay's on a war path to wipe out the baddies and he means business. The twirl of his knife is enough to set the cat among the pigeons: you don’t come in his way.
This is Vijay’s second outing with Murugadoss after the stupendous success of Thuppakki (2012). In Kaththi, Vijay’s character is pitted against Bollywood’s Neil Nitin Mukesh, who plays a rather sophisticated villain. Samantha Ruth Prabhu plays the romantic interest to the hero. There are some hints that Vijay will be seen in a double role, but nothing is confirmed. The film is set for Diwali release.
