Tamil superstar Rajinikanth arrived at the Chennai International Airport without a passport on Monday but continued to travel to Malaysia as per schedule after his documents were hand delivered to him by his aide, reports Deccan Chronicle.

The story goes that the actor arrived at the international airport at 10:15 am on Monday. He was to leave for Kuala Lumpur on Malaysian Airlines flight MH 183, that was scheduled to depart at 11:45 am. It was at the immigration counter that the actor realized that he didn’t have his passport.

The immigration officials suggested that his passport could be produced later and that he could continue with his paper work while the document arrived later. The actor asked his staff at home to fetch his passport immediately while giving express instruction to travel in a two-wheeler and not by car to avoid traffic delays.

His aide reached the airport at 11 am and with the help of airport officials, the document was hand delivered to the actor. Once verified, Rajinikanth was able to board the aircraft which left after a 30-minute delay at 12:15 pm.

When Deccan Chronicle contacted airport officials to find out if the flight’s departure was delayed to accommodate Rajinikanth, the authorities clarified that the flight itself had arrived 15 minutes late from Kuala Lumpur due to weather conditions. “It is true Rajinikanth forgot his passport. But he was not the reason for the delay,” an official asserted.
