East Bengal hold Persipura

After Dempo, it’s East Bengal. India’s run in the AFC Cup, a second-tier continental tournament, ended with Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Persipura Jayapura at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Tuesday.

After Dempo, it’s East Bengal. India’s run in the AFC Cup, a second-tier continental tournament, ended with Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Persipura Jayapura at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Tuesday.

East Bengal’s second AFC Cup venture in as many years again ended with a first-round exit. Last season, they had lost all six round-robin matches.

This time, East Bengal conceded three less, scored nine but most importantly, drew all their home matches.
