Tokyo Olympics highlights Day 3: The third day was another disappointing one from India. Shooters failed to make the skeet finals but while Sajan Prakash, Ashish Kumar, Manika Batra, and Sutirtha Mukherjee crashed out. Moreover, Sumit Nagal and the women's hockey team also suffered defeats.

Tokyo Olympics highlights Day 3: Sumit Nagal was knocked out after losing to World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in Men's Singles Round 2. The men's archery team of Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav lost to the Republic of Korea in the QFs. Shuttlers Chirag Shetty and Satwik Rankireddy lost their Group A match 13-21, 12-21 against World No. 1 Indonesian pair. Paddler Sutirtha Mukherjee was knocked out after losing to Portugal's Fu Yu in Women's Singles Round 2 match. India's Sharath Kamal advanced after beating Portugal's Tiago Apolonia in Table Tennis Men's Round 2. India started the day with CA Bhavani Devi, the first Indian fencer to compete at the Olympics, winning her first bout in the Women's Sabre event. But she lost her next bout against France's opponent and was knocked out. In the women's singles event, Manika Batra received a 0-4 thumping at the hands of Austria's Sofia Polcanova. Men's skeet shooters Angad Bajwa and Mairaj Khan failed to qualify for the final and boxer Ashish Kumar crashed out in the round of 32. Sailor Nethra Kumanan finishes 40th in Women’s Laser Radical Race 4, while Vishnu Saravanan finished 24th position in Sailing Men’s Laser Race 3 event. In the men's 200m Butterfly event, Sajan Prakash failed to qualify for the semifinals.
