The Indian tennis player posted on Instagram: “Unfortunately I had to withdraw from the Davis Cup tie against Spain next week in Delhi. Have been asked to rest my knee for next 10 days.”

The 2015 Wimbledon Boys’ Doubles winner Sumit Nagal was named as his replacement and Nagal will now partner Leander Paes in the doubles rubber.

Bopanna was knocked out in the second round of the men’s doubles while he made a quarterfinal exit from the mixed doubles competition at the US Open 2016.
